Terms of Use
The rules for using Zabihah AI and its Premium subscription. Please read the section on results carefully.
Effective 9 October 2026
1. About these terms
These terms apply to Zabihah AI | Scan Halal Food (“Zabihah AI” or “the app”), made by The Apptor (“we” or “us”). By downloading or using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. What Zabihah AI is
Zabihah AI is an information tool that helps you read a food's ingredient list. You can scan a product's barcode or take a photo of its ingredient list, and the app shows each ingredient as halal, haram or doubtful (mushbooh), with a short reason, plus an overall result.
3. Results are guidance, not a ruling
- Results come from automated analysis, including artificial intelligence, and from product databases. Both can be incomplete, out of date or wrong. A product's recipe can change, and the label in your hand may differ from the database.
- Zabihah AI is not a religious ruling (fatwa) and not a halal certification. We are not a certification body and do not inspect products, factories or supply chains.
- Always check for a trusted halal certification mark on the packaging. If you are unsure, ask a qualified scholar, or contact the manufacturer about the source of an ingredient.
- Zabihah AI is not allergy, dietary or medical advice. Do not use it to decide whether a food is safe for an allergy, intolerance or medical condition. Read the full label and ask a medical professional.
The decision about what you eat is yours. You use the results at your own discretion.
4. Free use and Premium
The app is free to download. Free users get one free scan each day.
Premium is an optional subscription, offered as a weekly plan and an annual plan. Both renew automatically. The price, the length of the plan and any free trial are shown in the app before you buy.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase.
- Your subscription renews automatically at the same price for the same period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- If a plan includes a free trial, it turns into a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID subscription settings: on your iPhone, open Settings › your name › Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; Premium stays on until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Refunds are handled by Apple, under Apple's policies. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- If you reinstall the app or move to a new iPhone, use Restore purchases in the app with the same Apple ID.
We may change what Premium includes or what it costs. A price change for an existing subscription is notified by Apple, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
5. Apple's terms
If you got the app from the App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement also applies to your use of the app and your purchases. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, and has no obligation to provide support for it.
6. Using the app fairly
Please do not:
- copy, resell or redistribute results in bulk, or use the app to build a database or competing service;
- use automated tools to send scans, or try to get around the free scan limit or rate limits;
- reverse engineer, interfere with or overload the app or our servers, except where the law allows it;
- send photos that are not food labels, or content that is unlawful or that you have no right to share;
- use the app to break any law.
We may limit or stop access for anyone who misuses the app.
7. Product information from others
Barcode scans use public product databases, including Open Food Facts, whose information is contributed by the public. We do not control that information and cannot promise it is complete or correct.
8. Intellectual property
The app, its design, text, graphics and software belong to The Apptor or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use. Product names and brands shown in results belong to their owners.
If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them to improve the app without owing you anything.
9. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what the app sends, to whom and why, including how label photos are read by Google's Gemini API after you agree.
10. Our responsibility to you
We work to keep the app accurate and available, but we provide it “as is” and cannot promise it will always be available, free of errors or right about every product.
As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for any loss that comes from relying on a result, including what you choose to eat or buy, and our total responsibility to you for any claim about the app is limited to the amount you paid for Premium in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits responsibility that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, you keep your legal rights; these terms do not take them away.
11. Changes
We may update the app and these terms from time to time, for example when we add features or when the law changes. We will post the new terms here with a new effective date. If you keep using the app after a change, the new terms apply. If you do not agree, stop using the app and cancel any subscription.
12. Ending use
You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it; remember to cancel any subscription in your Apple ID settings, because deleting the app does not cancel it.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere as a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country, and you may bring a claim in your local courts.
